School board votes to extend JCS superintendent’s contract through 2023

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Johnson City School Board voted unanimously to extend Superintendent Dr. Steve Barnett’s contract by another year through 2023.

Members of the school board said they have seen improvement in the school system with Dr. Barnett, and they feel he definitely deserves the contract extension.

Barnett has been superintendent of Johnson City Schools for two years.
