A Black Hawk helicopter was called to Grandfather Mountain on Sunday to rescue an injured hiker.
The Grandfather Mountain park says the hiker was located near MacRae Peak and was unable to walk to safety. Rescue crews determined it was unfeasible to carry the hiker out so the helicopter was called in.
According to the park, the hiker was extracted from the mountaintop and taken to the MacRae Meadows inside the park where they were transfered to an ambulance which took them to the hospital.
The hiker only suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital later that night.
