USGS reports 1.6-magnitude earthquake in East Tennessee

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A small earthquake struck in Monroe and Blount Counties in East Tennessee on Tuesday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred about five miles east-southeast of Vonore, Tennessee.

The earthquake was about seven miles deep and occurred just before 3 a.m.
