NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Vice President Mike Pence is visiting Naval Station Norfolk on Tuesday.

The vice president’s office said in a news release Pence will tour the USS Harry S. Truman and deliver remarks to the ship’s officers and crew members.

Pence’s visit comes more than two months after he stopped by U.S. Coast Guard Base Portsmouth, where he was briefed on efforts to address border security threats.

His visit also comes after the U.S. Navy’s released its proposed 2020 budget, which calls for the early retirement of the Truman.
