The University of Tennessee Knoxville Board of Trustees approved appointing Donde Plowman as the school’s next chancellor.
Plowman will be the ninth chancellor of UT Knoxville, and also the highest paid in school history.
Plowman is coming to East Tennessee from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she currently serves as the executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer.
Interim President of UT Randy Boyd backed the decision to hire Plowman.
“At the end of the process it was clear to me among all the candidates that Dr. Donde Plowman stood out,” Boyd said in a release.
Plowman once served on the UT Knoxville Haslam College of Business faculty from 2007 to 2010. She led the management department for two years.
Plowman’s first day on the job will be July 1.
