ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — According to a release from the Hawkins County Sheriffs Office, the driver of a lawnmower caused an accident in Hawkins County Thursday afternoon.

Wendall Hale was reportedly heading down the access road to Long John Silvers towards Highway 66 on a lawnmower with a trailer and passenger in tow.

Authorities said he attempted a sharp right turn that flipped the trailer, causing the female passenger in the trailer to fall out onto the road.

According to the report, the female passenger suffered a severe head injury.

Authorities said she was taken to a hospital and was last listed in stable but serious condition.

Hale jumped from the lawnmower while it was still in motion after the passenger fell out.

The lawnmower then hit a parked car.

Several open alcohol containers were found on the scene.

Authorities arrived and found Hale injured and unable to pass the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

Hale was arrested and taken to jail in Hawkins County.

He is being held with no bond and is scheduled to appear in court next week.
