Knoxville PD: Plane makes emergency landing on I-640 after running out of fuel, no injuries reported

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – A small plane made an emergency landing on the interstate in Knoxville on Wednesday morning.

According to a tweet from the Knoxville Police Department, the plane ran out of gas and was forced to land on I-640 East near Wahington Pike.

No one was injured and no vehicles were hit, according to the tweet.

Knoxville police say the plane was not damaged.

The plane has since refueled and taken back off, according to Knoxville PD. All lanes of the interstate are back open.
