An overpass railing has fallen on Interstate 75 northbound at the Interstate 24 split in Chattanooga, blocking traffic.
According to the Chattanooga Police Department’s Twitter, the concrete railing split from the side of the overpass.

The Tennessee Smartway map indicated the incident was reported about 11:35 a.m. Monday. They estimate the section of the interstate reopening about 4 p.m.
Northbound traffic is completely blocked at this time.
Southbound traffic remains moving.
The Mayor of Chattanooga also tweeted abotu the collapse Monday afternoon saying in part, “A frightening bridge collapse at one of the most heavily trafficked intersections in the country, where 75 and 24 meet.”
