Dozens of people were forced to evacuate their Knoxville apartments early Friday after heavy winds blew off a large portion of roofing.

The Knoxville Fire Department responded to reports of a roof collapse at the 1100 Studio Apartments complex located at 1100 Lula Powell Drive. Firefighters arrived to find the roof had blown off half of the apartment’s C & D building, which house around 150 units.

KFD, the Knoxville Police Department and K-Tran buses evacuated 70 units from the D building to the Civic Coliseum.

The apartment suffered no structural damage
