2 dead in shooting on UNC-Charlotte campus; suspect in custody

Two people are dead following a shooting on the UNC-Charlotte campus Tuesday evening.

WBTV reported “several” people hit before confirming two were dead.

Two victims were transported with life-threatening injuries, and two transported with non-life threatening injuries, WBTV reports. 

The total number of victims is unconfirmed at this time. 

A person is in custody.

Aerial shots from local television news outlets showed police officers running toward a building, while another view showed students running on a campus sidewalk.

UNCC has told students to remain sheltered in place.
