TBI: Crime data reveals Sumner County murders to be deadliest homicide case in 20 years

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a murder case in Middle Tennessee is the deadliest homicide event in the state in 20 years.

The TBI said an examination of the agency’s crime data lead to the conclusion about the Sumner County homicide case where seven people were found dead in two separate homes.

The TBI charged Michael Cummins, 25, in the death of his mother and father.

Other victims included Cummins’ uncle and four other people. The TBI has not determined Cummins’ relationship to the other victims.

Cummins was wounded by a police officer when he was caught. At last check, he is still in the hospital.
