Consider it perfection for the Phillips sisters.
Very rarely do you hear about people getting perfect attendance in their jobs or career, but the Phillips has two children that were able to accomplish this feat.
In 2011, Raqueal Phillips accomplished her goal of never missing a day of elementary or high school. Raqueal was able to graduate with 13 years of perfect attendance.
Now eight years later her sister, Zoe, is doing just that; graduating with perfect attendance from Castlewood High School.
The Phillips sisters pinpoint both good luck and logistics to never having to miss a day of school.
Both credit their good health and their mother scheduling doctor’s appointments after school.
Zoe Phillips said, “I have been blessed with pretty good health my entire school career.” She also described how a typical snow day for her ended up being a chance to knock many appointments out of the way.
“On snow days, my mom would call and get as many appointments scheduled for that day, so I did not have to miss school.”
Zoe plans to attend The University of Virginia’s College at Wise in the fall.
Like her sister, Raqueal, Zoe plans to major in elementary education and eventually become a teacher. Zoe hopes to continue her accomplishment by obtaining perfect attendance during all four years of college.
She notes it may be a challenge due to her college being thirty minutes away versus a minute to her high school.
Zoe hopes to instill that attendance is important. “Your attendance matters, and you should always strive to show up whenever you can.”
She continued, “It may be hard to show up all the time, but it is worth it in the end.”
