Speedway Motorsports Inc., the company that owns Bristol Motor Speedway, wants to bring Nascar to Music City.
However, at a Fair Board meeting Tuesday, members said they’re worried there is still too much confusion about who would be footing the bill for such an undertaking.
Renderings showing what the finished Nascar-grade track would look live have already been created.
And while many are excited about the possibility of Nascar returning to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, others aren’t convinced.
The main concern is that the project doesn’t coincide properly with plans already in motion on the Major League Soccer stadium at the Fairgrounds.
Lack of community engagement with the proposal is also troublesome, some board members said.
Earlier this year, Speedway Motorsports offered up several possibilities on how to pay for it all.
For now, though, the Fair Board agreed they need more details.
