CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va.(WFXR) – Authorities are searching for a Maryland man they believe to be linked to the murder of a man and the disappearance of a Cumberland County woman early Friday morning.

Troopers with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 200 block of Mount Airy Lane at 3:30 a.m. on May 24 after learning about a homicide that had occurred. Once they arrived, troopers found the body of an adult male. The Sheriff’s Office did not identify the victim in the case.

A 43-year-old woman named Amy Renee Fabian, who authorities said lived at the residence, was not found when troopers responded. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office believe George William Knisley, a 41-year-old from Caroll County, Maryland, is a suspect in the murder and disappearance of Fabian.

Knisley is described as a white male with brown eyes and brown hair. He is about 5-feet-11-inches tall and roughly 180 pounds with a full beard and tattoos on his arm. It is believed Knisley left the residence in a 2002 white, Ford F350 work truck.

The South Hill Police Department received a report from a woman at around 6:30 a.m. about a man, who matched Knisley’s description, who threatened her outside her home with a gun and stole her 2013 Honda Civic. The woman was not hurt.

The stolen car is a white 2013 Honda Civic and has a Virginia license plate: “LAR 64.” With the help of Virginia State Police, the Sheriff’s Office is continuing a search for Fabian and Knisley. A search is also ongoing for the work truck that Knisley was reportedly driving. The truck, which was reported stolen out of Maryland, is white and has “Alleghany Industries” on its side. The truck has a license plate of “22L 231.”

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information about the whereabouts of Amy Renee Fabian and/or Knisley to call 911 or (804)492-4120 or the state police at #77.
