An investigation is underway in Meigs County after a body on the side of the road was spotted by a passing school bus.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a body on the side of the road was spotted early Wednesday in Decatur.

Clint Baker, Director of Meigs County Schools told WTVC the bus driver was taking students to school around 7:30 a.m. when she spotted the bound body of a man alongside Eaves Ferry Road in Decatur.

Baker said a mix of elementary, middle and high school students were on board at the time and some students saw the body.

Parents of students on the bus we’re given the opportunity to pick up their children from school and counselors spoke with every student on the bus about the incident.

Director of Schools Clint Baker says it’s something no one was prepared for, but he is happy with how the bus driver dealt with the unexpected.
