A section of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee-North Carolina line will soon return to normal.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says all four lanes of the interstate near the state line will reopen to traffic before sunrise Wednesday.
A slide on February 22 near the Harmon Den exit caused all lanes to be closed for five days. Crews then reopened two lanes, one going in each direction.
NCDOT says more than 10,000 tons of debris were removed from the interstate. The repairs cost an estimated $2.35 million.
