The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Green Fern Trail Tuesday afternoon on a report of two small children found unresponsive.

SVFD officials later confirming to WATE 6 On Your Side that the two small children were found in a bathtub.

The mother of the two children was performing CPR when first responders arrived.

Medics took over and both children were transported to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. BCSO officials saying they currently do not have an update on the children’s conditions.

“It was really scary to me because we don’t see things like that in this neighborhood. It’s very quiet. People are out walking their dogs, their kids are out playing. We just don’t see stuff like that, so it was really scary,” said neighbor Kelly Hutcherson.

Hutcherson is hoping the next update is a positive one.

“It breaks my heart. Absolutely breaks my heart. It makes me sad for the parents, it makes me sad for the babies. It’s unsettling,” Hutcherson said. “I hope and pray that these babies recover. And they get to grow up and that the parents are okay. I just pray for the whole family.”
