Rabies vaccine to be distributed by aircraft throughout Southwest, VA beginning in October.

News

(WJHL) – Federal wildlife officials say they will soon be distributing edible rabies vaccines to help stop the spread of raccoon rabies in Southwest Virginia.

They will be distributed in 13 counties including Washington, Wise, Dickenson, Smyth, and Russell.

The vaccine is in the form of bait and will be distributed from a low flying aircraft beginning October 5th.

Each bait is marked with a toll-free number to call if you come into contact with it.
