Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) have introduced legislation that would prevent the Flatwoods Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Coeburn from closing.

The bill, called the Job Corps Protection Act, would prevent the Trump administration from using federal funds this year or next year to close any Job Corps Civilian Conservation Centers.

The Department of Labor of the Department of Agriculture recently announced the closure of the Flatwoods facility and eight other facilities.

The centers provide job training to people 16 to 24-year-old in rural communities.
