FORT MILL, S.C. (WBTV) — Charlotte police say a juvenile was taken to the hospital after being shot in the Carowinds bus parking lot Monday afternoon.
According to News Channel 11’s CBS affiliate WBTV, investigators say the incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot on the 14500 block of Carowinds Boulevard.
Trent Faris with the York County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened on the South Carolina side of Carowinds in the bus parking lot and they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
“We believe this was an isolated incident. I can tell you we believe it stemmed from an earlier argument that happened inside the park,” Faris said.
Thomas Murray says he watched a stream of emergency vehicles enter the park.
“Started to hear a lot of sirens. Police, close to probably 20 police cars. Sheriff’s, York County, Charlotte,” he said.
Carowinds officials said in a statement that the victim was a juvenile male.
“At approximately 7:20 p.m., Carowinds security officers reported a shooting in the bus parking lot outside of the park,” the statement read.
“We can confirm that a juvenile male has been transported for medical treatment. We are assisting both Carlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the York County Sheriff’s Office in this active investigation.”
Investigators say they have not made any arrests but describe the suspect as a “light skinned male” driving a light blue car, possibly a Dodge Charger or Magnum.Copyright 2016 WBTV. All rights reserved.
