KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport police say they’ve arrested a man in connection to an armed robbery attempt at a local fast food restaurant.
After tips from citizens, investigators say they identified the suspect at 23-year-old Joshua Pritchett.
Police say on Monday, a man entered the Burger King restaurant located on North Eastman Road around 5:45 a.m. and approached the counter. According to police, he approached the counter and began pacing back and forth. He then shouted for the employees, who were in the back kitchen area, to come to the counter. While impatiently waiting, he walked around the counter, helped himself to a beverage cup, and returned to the customer side of the counter.
When the manager approached the counter, she sensed that something was not right. When the suspect revealed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun from the waist of his pants, the manager and employees quickly ran outside from the back door of the restaurant.
The suspect, later identified as Pritchett, left the restaurant empty-handed.
Pritchett is currently being held at the Kingsport City Jail. He was arraigned Thursday morning where his bond was set at $15,000.
He is scheduled to be transferred to the Sullivan County Jail later Thursday.
