JOHNSON CITY (WJHL) – A group of Tri-Cities firefighters are being noticed on social medial.
Adam Scott Momberger posted a photo on Facebook of firefighters with the Johnson City Fire Department Tuesday night.
It shows them laying on the sidewalk resting and some of them are also sleeping.
Momberger said that was the closest they got to seeing sleep in 36 hours.
The Johnson City Fire Department was one of several Northeast Tennessee agencies to be deployed to Gatlinburg Monday night when wildfires forced thousands to evacuate.
Fire Chief Mark Scott said, “They had probably been up probably 18 to 30 hours by then so they were approaching a level of exhaustion. They had went to the point of having to sit down, we had some food and I guess as soon as we had the food it hit them and everybody was just kind of flaked out on the sidewalk.”
The photo has been shared from Adam Scott Momberger’s Facebook page more than 26,000 times as of Wednesday night.
The photo caught the attention of Todd Chrisley from USA’s “Chrisley Knows Best” TV reality show.
He shared the photo to 1.8 million fans saying “And this is what real heroes look like.”
All of the firefighters have returned home to Johnson City.
