Pedestrian hit by car, critically injured near ETSU


UPDATE: A portion of State of Franklin Road at the intersection of University Parkway was shut down Friday evening for at least two hours while police investigated a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian.

Washington County, TN dispatchers said as of 10 p.m. Friday all lanes of State of Franklin reopened.

A Johnson City Police spokesman said a car was traveling west on State of Franklin when it hit a pedestrian. Investigators are trying to determine if that person was in a crosswalk at the time.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with what police described as serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.


JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) — Johnson City Police have blocked off three lanes of State of Franklin Road near East Tennessee State University after a crash.

According to Washington County, TN dispatchers, the crash happened at the intersection of State of Franklin Rd. and University Parkway. The call came in around 7:25 p.m. Friday.

Dispatchers told News Channel 11 there are reports of injuries and at least one person was taken to an area hospital.
