Outdoor burn ban issued in Kingsport

News

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport is under a city-wide outdoor burn ban, according to city fire marshal Robert Sluss.

Fire officials say, “Due to dry conditions and lack of rainfall, all outdoor fires are prohibited and subject to fine.”

We’re also told the burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.

The Kingsport Fire Department says there are other alternatives to outdoor burning. The city provides leaf collection for our residents from October through January 15.

Depending on demand, leaf pick-up may be anywhere from six to fifteen working days to cover all routes. In addition, if you are wanting your leaves to be picked up, they should be raked to the edge of the roadway but not in the road, to facilitate pick-up.

Bagged leaves will be picked up on the regular yard trash collection day, according to the city.

The City of Kingsport says the Leaf line is updated daily.

You can find more details about the City of Kingsport’s collection and recycling services at www.kingsporttn.gov or by calling the Leaf Line at (423) 224-2429.
