New leadership coming to Washington County – Johnson City Animal Shelter

WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL)- The Washington County – Johnson City Animal Shelter will soon be under new leadership. Current Director Debbie Dobbs announced her retirement last year and has been staying on staff to help out until a new director is named. Now the city and county have chosen not one but two new directors.

Tammy Davis will begin her new role as the Director of Operations at the end of this month while newly appointed Executive Director Cara Ledbetter will be joining the staff at the beginning of October.

Dobbs said, “That is a very, very good move to have two people in here so that more attention can be paid to detail, customer service and all that.”

Even though there are additional costs associated with having 2 directors rather than one, Dobbs says part of the new executive director’s job will be securing grants and donations to help the shelter continue to operate efficiently.
