WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) – There is a nationwide alert out for a Wake Forest convicted bank robber after his wife was found dead in their home, police say.

Police were asked to perform a welfare check on a resident of the 4400 block of Iyar Way and ruled the incident a “suspicious death” after a body was discovered late Tuesday.

A woman was found deceased by responding officers.

A convicted bank robber — who was just released from prison on Oct 15 for the robbery of a PNC bank on Rodgers Ave. in Dec 2013 — is suspected in the killing of his wife at the home.

Lanson Paul Stalf is accused of killing 34-year-old wife Stephanie Lynn Autry in their home, police said in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Stephanie’s body was found Tuesday night around 10:30 after the family’s nanny called police to check on Stephanie, police said.

The couple’s child was not at home at the time of the slaying and is now safe, police say.Copyright 2015 WNCN. All rights reserved.
