A local mother is in mourning after a devastating discovery. Her daughter’s body turned up in the water near Watts Bar Lake.

Friday, the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman as Elisha Carpenter. She was 31. They’d been looking for her since March 15th.

Six On Your Side’s Elizabeth Kuebel talked to Elisha’s mom, who’s still in shock.

It’s hard to accept the fact. It’s like a dream. It seems like it ain’t real, Lisa Ricketson, Carpenter’s mom, said.

Ricketson is devastated. Her daughter’s body found, nearly two weeks after she was reported missing.

She was found but not like we wanted to find her. I was hoping she was just hiding, Ricketson said.

Loudon County investigators made the discovery Thursday night. Ricketson said she’s getting through, by leaning on her faith.

When I look at it, she’s singing in the Heavenly choir now… I believe that’s what gave me my peace because I know that’s where she’s at, said Ricketson.

And that’s how this mother is remembering her daughter as a woman of strong faith who had a way of making people laugh.

Now, she’s missing Elisha’s laughter, smiles and silliness.

I love you Elisha. You’re going to be greatly missed by so many people. You’re so loved, she said.
