CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A man is in custody after he wore a mask and chased children with a knife at a bus stop in Chesterfield last week.
Police say they responded the 2300 block of Vicki Court on October 26 for a suspicious situation. When officers arrived, they located 23-year-old Nathaniel Dunivin, who was still wearing a mask and holding a knife.
Dunivin was charged with assault in relation to one of the children who was chased. He was also charged with possession of a weapon on school property and wearing a mask in public.
No one was injured during the incident.
“When everybody just got off the bus I point at him and say ‘who’s that?’ and that’s when all the girls notice him and they just start screaming,” said Emily Portillo, who videoed the whole ordeal.
Portillo lives next door to the bus stop where in the incident occurred. She herself had just gotten off the bus.
“I thought it was a joke that’s why I had the guts to go chase him around,” she said.
Dunivin’s mother, Misty Dunivin, added, “I’m not going to lie and say he made the right most wisest of decisions, but let’s not carry it away to someone running away slaughtering people in April in a Halloween costume.”Copyright 2015 WRIC. All rights reserved.
