The YWCA Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia is accepting referrals for the “Moms R Us” teen pregnancy program.
The free program offers support and education classes to teen parents who are 19 years-old and younger and pregnant for the first time. Prepared childbirth classes are held at the YWCA facility located at 106 State Street and Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
“Becoming a parent as a teenager is a life-altering experience for the teens as well as their families,” said Tammy Alls, director of mission advancement at YWCA. “Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of teens and their babies by supporting healthy decisions during pregnancy and beyond.”
Each teen parent will receive a free baby item at each class session and participants who attend all classes will receive their choice of a free convertible infant/toddler car seat or Pack N Play. Moms R Us participants also receive first priority in the YWCA Children’s Center, the only childcare facility in Bristol to offer fees based on household income.
