Woodland Elementary student wins school district spelling bee

Students in Johnson City had their spelling skills put to the test Wednesday, and the school district crowned one a winner.

Congratulations to Haley Hathaway, a 4th grader student at Woodland Elementary School in Johnson City.

10 students took the stage at Liberty Bell Middle School in the Johnson City Schools’ spelling bee.

The winning word that snagged Haley the spelling championship – operation.

“I knew if I didn’t win it was still great to participate in this, and I’m just really happy that I won,” said Hathaway.

Isadora Brown, a 4th grader from Mountain View Elementary, is the runner-up of the spelling bee competition.
