WISE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — Several people were injured in a crash Friday afternoon on U.S. 23 in Wise County.
Virginia State Police said it happened around 4 p.m. in the 6800 block of Orby Cantrell Highway, also known as U.S. 23.
State troopers said a Nissan SUV pulled out from a parking lot and into the path of a northbound Dodge Durango.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital in Norton for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. An 88-year-old female passenger was flown to Johnson City Medical Center for serious injuries.
The driver of the Durango and three adult passengers were taken to a hospital in Norton with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
State police charged the driver of the Nissan with failure to yield the right of way.
