If you live in Greene County and your power went out Saturday night, here’s why:
Director of Operations and Engineering with Greeneville Light & Power System Chuck Bowlin tells News Channel 11 a five-foot-long snake got on top of a breaker at a substation.
Bowlin said almost 16,000 people were in the dark while crew members worked to get the snake down.
The outage happened just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday.
Crews were able to restore the power to all homes in less than an hour, according to Bowlin.
Bowlin said the snake was trying to make its way towards a couple of birds that were in a nest on top of the breaker.
