Local

State troopers in southwest Virginia are investigating a fatal crash in Tazewell County. The crash happened on Saturday morning (December 8) around 11:30 a.m. on Route 460, less than a mile east of Route 67.

Virginia State Police reports a 2010 Subaru Legacy was heading into a curve on Route 460 when it ran off the right side of the highway and struck an embankment.

State troopers say the car went airborne and spun out before ending up on the right side of the road.

The diver, 38-year-old Skyler J. Johnson, 38, of Cedar Bluff, VA, was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

He was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

VSP cites speed as a factor in the crash.
