The USGS National Earthquake Information Center has confirmed that a preliminary 2.8 magnitude earthquake hit eight miles away from Vonore, Tennessee.
Vonore is roughly 2 hours away from Johnson City.
Julie Dutton, with the USGS National Earthquake Information Center, says the primary force felt from the quake was in Madisonville.
She adds the she doesn’t think the Tri-Cities would have felt any force from the earthquake due to the magnitude.
This marks the the fourth reported earthquake in East Tennessee this month.
