Tri-Cities Airport officials said flights are scheduled to resume between the Tri-Cities and Charlotte following a weather delay.
According to Kristi Haulsee with Tri-Cities Airport, the ground stop at Charlotte is now over. Flights are expected to continue normally this evening.
News Channel 11 has a crew at the airport who confirms the first few diverted planes are now taking off. The other planes are lining up on the tarmac as well.
Tri-Cities Airport officials said the weather is impacting both inbound, and outbound flights from our region due to lightning.
An airport spokesperson said as of Monday evening flights are also being diverted from Charlotte to the Tri-Cities.
There have been four planes impacted so far, three American flights and one Delta flight.
We’re told flights will continue to Charlotte once the weather clears.
Officials at the Tri-Cities Airport said they weren’t sure how long this ground stop would last.
