Less than two weeks after our Community Watchdog investigation found Unicoi County’s ambulance service is violating its contract, county commissioners are set to discuss and vote on the issue at Monday’s meeting.

The Unicoi County Commission’s agenda shows leaders will “discuss and vote on how to address alleged contract violations with MedicOne Ambulance Service.”

Our investigation found the company is failing to adequately staff some shifts, along with two advanced life support ambulances at all times. Medic One said a statewide staffing shortage is to blame.

Erwin and Unicoi County leaders recently met to discuss a possible partnership to provide a new government-run ambulance service. Monday’s meeting starts at 6:00 pm.
