According to affidavits of complaint from the General Sessions Court of Sullivan County, Dmarco Polk was at the MeadowView Convention Center on Saturday night when he was called by a man he knew as Deonte Bristol and another man that was identified as Matthew Phillips.

Polk said that Bristol told him that they needed to meet.

Polk told officers the meeting took place in his own car outside the front entrance to the convention center.

While inside the vehicle, Phillips showed a handgun, grabbed Polk by the hair and demanded “money and stuff.” Polk gave both Phillips and Bristol around $600.

The two suspects then forced Polk to a room on the third floor of the hotel, Room 325, and forced him to knock on the door while they stood by.

A man identified as Gemayel Williams opened the door. The court documents reveal he was immediately shot in the upper left arm by Phillips.

Phillips and Bristol then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by Brittany Stafford.

According to the affidavit, Phillips was left by Bristol and Stafford at an address on Seaver Road in Kingsport before the two returned to MeadowView. Police then arrested the pair.

Stafford said in a statement to police that she had provided transportation both to and from MeadowView.
