Twelve flu-related deaths reported in Tri-Cities region this flu season

TRI-CITIES, TN (WJHL) – Health officials in the region have confirmed that twelve people have died from the flu.

A Mountain States Health Alliance spokesperson said nine people have died from flu-related illness.

Wellmont said it has had three flu-related deaths this flu season.

Flu continues to be widespread throughout the region.

Mountain States said their emergency rooms and hospitals reported nearly 600 cases over the past two weeks.

Wellmont had 82 cases in its hospitals last week.

Those numbers do not reflect cases treated by private physicians and urgent care facilities.
