Dozens gathered at a site in Blountville that will soon be home to the new Aerospace Park site. Community and construction leaders said they are setting the stage for the next phase.

Site construction on the new park will begin tomorrow and is scheduled to be completed in late fall 2020. Officials say when the construction is complete, Aerospace Park will have 105 acres ready for development.

So far, there are 32 acres ready for development. The Tri-Cities Airport Authority says it will continue to promote the current site to target industries.

TCAA says it is competing for about $1.7 million in grant funding for the final phase. The final phase includes grading completion of 17 acres and adding utilities and access roads.
