Firefighters are working to extinguish a forest fire in Washington County, Virginia.
Sheriff Fred Newman says the fire is located off Cowen Drive.
According to Newman, it started when a tire fire spread into the woods.
The Virginia Department of Forestry says the fire has consumed about 5 acres and is contained.
Goodson Kinderhook, Washington County Fire-Rescue, and forestry officials have responded to the fire.
Fire crews arrived around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
No injuries have been reported.
