Three charged with gun and drug crimes in Lee County

Three people are facing gun and drug charges in Lee County, Virginia. 

According to Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons, a deputy was dispatched Thursday evening to the Black Diamond Market in the Stone Creek area of the county. 

The deputy says he found two men and a woman in an ATV. After smelling marijuana, the deputy says he searched the vehicle and discovered two .45 caliber handguns, 27 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and scales.

According to the sheriff’s office, one of the individuals ate methamphetamine in an attempt to destroy evidence. 

The deputy says he also discovered two of the people in the ATV were convicted felons.

33-year-old Alicia Green of Cawood, Kentucky has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs. 

35-year-old Byrd L. Smith of Day Branch, Kentucky is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony, possession of marijuana, possession of meth with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs. 

31-year-old Jim Edward Gilbert of Baxter, Kentucky has been charged with possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony, possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs, carry a concealed weapon (3rd offense), distribution of schedule one drugs (2nd offense), concealing or destroying evidence, giving false information to law enforcement, and possession of marijuana (2nd offense). 

Sheriff Parsons says all three are being held without bond in at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield.
