Plans to open a Tennessee College of Applied Technology satellite campus in Washington County are moving forward.

After local officials met with Gov. Bill Lee on Tuesday to discuss the proposal, TCAT Elizabethton says it will be working with Washington County officials and the Tennessee Board of Regents to establish the campus.

“The transformation of the Boones Creek Elementary School to a TCAT Elizabethton Extension Campus will enable TCAT Elizabethton to expand training opportunities, including dual enrollment and dual credit, to high demand areas within its service area consistent with Governor Lee’s focus on Career and Technical Education,” said Dean Blevins, president of TCAT Elizabethton.

TCAT says TBR facilities officials will review the Boones Creek school in the near the future. The State Building Commission will also conduct an environmental study.
