Dozens of technical trainers from across the country are in Elizabethton for the 5th annual Train the Trainer event at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.
TCAT Elizabethton says a record 130 people are attending this year’s week-long program.
Each student is a technical trainer at a high school, college, or technical school or industrial training facility.
At the end of the program, the students will get a certification in their area of training. Then, they can use that certificate to teach and certify their own students back home. The certificates are recognized worldwide.
“It’s good to get them started early, that way they can get used to it,” said Lucas Car, a high school engineering and technology teacher. “And once they get into college or technical school or whatever route they choose to go, they have those skills already, so they can develop further skills, skills that might be a little harder than that, skills that build on top of the precision measurement instrument.
TCAT says technical educators from as far away as California, Ohio, and Wisconsin are participating this year.
