Saturday morning update:
A suspect is in custody after a multi-agency pursuit Friday night that caused a Kingsport PD officer to crash.
According to Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Patton, around 11:30 Friday night a KPD officer crashed into a utility pole on Rock Springs Road while pursuing a wanted suspect in a stolen pickup truck.
That suspect was wanted for several felonies, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
We’re told no other vehicles were involved in that crash, and the officer was not hurt.
After a multi-agency pursuit involving Tennessee and Virginia law enforcement, Patton says that suspect was taken into custody after getting stuck in mid in Bristol, Tenn.
Rock Springs Road has reopened, according to dispatch.
We’re expecting more information on this incident on Monday morning.
KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – Kingsport Police have closed a section of Rock Springs Road Friday night following an officer-involved crash, according to officers on scene.
Kingsport Police tells News Channel 11 the officer driving the patrol car was not injured.
A section of Rock Springs Road is closed due to a power line pole that has been knocked down following the crash.
