Deputies in Sullivan County said they arrested a car theft suspect after he reportedly left a trail of blood.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office reports around 9:00 a.m. this morning they received a call from a woman in the 3000 block of Forest View Road regarding a break-in at her home where someone had stolen her car, a Ford Mustang.

Investigators said, when they arrived, they found a broken window and a garage door that been “driven through.”

The victim’s car was later found in a driveway on Forest View Road, not far from the victim’s home.

The victim’s car, according to deputies, was wrecked.

Deputies noticed a trail of blood in the snow leading from the Mustang and up to a home.

Investigators said the suspect 41-year-old Michael Laster was not at the home. But a short time later he was found at the local hospital receiving treatment for cuts to his hand and arm.

Laster was arrested and charged with burglary and motor vehicle theft.
