Sheriff’s office identifies man killed by train in Scott County, Virginia


SCOTT COUNTY, VA (WJHL) – The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was killed after he was struck by a train on Tuesday night in the Clinchport community. 

Deputies identified the man as 33-year-old Benjamin Lee Elliott.   
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened shortly before 7 p.m.  

Elliott was reportedly struck by a Norfolk Southern train and was pronounced dead at the scene.  

The sheriff’s office says investigators and deputies worked through the night probing the crash. Deputies add that some details about the crash will not be released at this time out of respect for the family.
