Virginia Senator Tim Kaine made a stop in Southwest Virginia today where participants in a program to overcome drug addiction marked a major milestone.
Senator Kaine attended a graduation ceremony for drug court participants at the Washington County Courthouse in Abingdon.
The program is designed to help addicts get treatment and thrive as they begin a new path.
“It represents months and months, 18 months or more of hard work by a graduate to turn their life around with really strong support from the probation office and from behavioral health service provdiers, family and friends,” said Senator Kaine.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a nearly $398,000 grant to the program earlier this year.
