Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies have charged a Rogersville man with aggravated assault for reportedly dragging his girlfriend from a vehicle.

Daniel Hughes, 36, is currently in jail and will go for arraignment this morning to determine his bond.

According to the police report, deputies say they responded to Stanley Valley Road on Sunday in Rogersville of a woman being assaulted in the driveway.

Investigators say the woman had blood coming out of her nose, mouth, arms, and the whole left side of her face swollen.

Police say a witness told them they heard the brakes lock up and witness the woman being “dragged by the vehicle.”

The woman said Hughes was the one that committed the act.

Officers later arrested Hughes near Stanley Valley Road.
