LEBANON, Va. (WJHL) – A man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after an early-morning shooting at an apartment complex in Lebanon, Virginia.

Lebanon, Virginia Police Chief Eric Deskins told News Channel 11 that officers were called to a shooting at Lebanon Square Apartments at around 1 a.m. Monday morning.

According to Deskins, preliminary information found that a man was shot twice in the chest, and the shooting is believed to have occurred in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Chief Deskins says the man was flown to Johnson City for treatment of serious injuries.

Investigators on the scene told News Channel 11 that they had found that a fight between two people had led to the shooting, but what led to the fight is unknown.

Deskins said the suspect has been identified as Josiah Hilsner, 22. Hilsner is charged with malicious wounding, attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Hilsner is being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail facility in Abingdon without bond, according to Deskins.

Deskins told News Channel 11 that Hilsner was taken into custody just after officers arrived at the apartment complex.

The Lebanon Police Department continues to lead the investigation with help from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
