Officials identify $1M Powerball winner in Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL)- Lottery officials have revealed who won a $1 million dollar jackpot last weekend in Elizabethton.

According to Tennessee Lottery officials, Sammy Castle of Elizabethton purchased the winning ticket at Greer Convenience center on HIghway 19E. 

In the original e-mail about the winning ticket, lottery officials said:  

“Congratulations to a Powerball player in Elizabethton, who won $1 million Saturday night by matching 5 of the 5 white numbers drawn. This is the 270th ticket worth $1 million or more sold since the Tennessee Education Lottery began selling tickets on Jan. 20, 2004.”
